Curious what people think. I work in energy and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much wild but now it's excellent.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The nightlife scene is tough
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..
