Lumberton is underrated, change my mind

Hey, Just moved here 13 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Lumberton sits at 168.1 per 100K. Household incomes average around $104,551 in Lumberton. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Any advice would be great. Thanks for reading. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.
