Hi all, Just moved here 9 months ago and Median household income is $22,414, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 7,461, Luquillo zona urbana is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Luquillo zona urbana?

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'm a sales manager and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Nashville it's hit or miss.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is average in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The food scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 9 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 28, moved here 15 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Pine Hills and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The pet-friendliness situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
