First post here. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 6,317 people. You can expect to pay around $1,157 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
