I'm retired and Rent is about $2,033/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 7.8%, which is concerning. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What are your go-to spots? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Phoenix about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Westside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- The healthcare scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..
