I'm single, late 20s, and You can expect to pay around $1,043 for rent here. With a population of 79,255, Lynchburg is a smaller city. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Thai places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
