Moving to Lynchburg for work -advice?

Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in East area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 6 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in legal here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..
