Dylan Anderson housing

First time home buyer in Lyndon

Hey, I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $273,300 on average. Rent is about $1,196/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $273,300, which seems about average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Thoughts? Any help is appreciated. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much developing but now it's underrated.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 15 years. Moved from Tampa for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 10 years. Moved from Tampa for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**

I work in construction here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Fairview) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..
