I've lived in Westside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights
- The weather scene is decent
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
