What to expect moving to Lyons?

OK so My partner and I are Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $936,000 on average. With a population of 5,444, Lyons is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 5,444 people. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from New York about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in real estate here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is underrated. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
