Hey, I'm a 29-year-old physical therapist and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Uptown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Portland it's average.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from San Diego about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The safety is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Southern places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I'm a HR manager and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
