Longtime lurker here, Rent is about $1,026/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. What are your go-to spots?

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The community vibe scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Eastside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Miami about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is average.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is challenging in most areas.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Greenfield area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.
