I keep seeing people overlook Macon-Bibb County when talking about great places to live. With a population of 156,543, it's big enough to have everything you need but small enough to feel like a community. The food scene is amazing. The weather is great — warm most of the year with an average of 66F.

Moved here last year. No regrets. So many outdoor activities.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Lakewood and Riverside are perfectly safe.

Don't sleep on Westside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, there are good opportunities if you network.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.
