Random thought, We have two kids and Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 9,454, Madeira is a small town. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The cost of living scene is solid
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in West area are average. Kids love it here.

Came here for work and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The housing market is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
