Moving to Madeira -what should I know?

Alright, We have two kids and It's a a small town city with about 9,454 people. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Madeira sits at 87.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $463,600 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much manageable but now it's hit or miss.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 8 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
