Anyone regret moving to Madison Heights?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 50s, and The median home value here is around $181,300, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $826 for rent here. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 53, moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Downtown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The food scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for couples. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
