Longtime lurker here, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,798/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What do you all think? Thanks! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Moved here from Miami about 4 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to dating scene but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The nightlife scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
