Is Madison walkable?

Hi all, Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $120,918 in Madison. You can expect to pay around $1,798 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,775 people. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Is this normal for Madison? Any help is appreciated. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
