Rent in Madison Park getting crazy

Homes are going for about $386,200 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is challenging in most areas.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The outdoor recreation scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 36, moved here 9 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
