Life in Madison as a young professional

OK so Been living here since 2009. You can expect to pay around $1,364 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
