Quick question about Madison

So, The median home value here is around $346,900, which seems about average. Median household income is $76,983, which feels about average for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Appreciate any input. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 35, moved here 3 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from LA about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 2 years. Moved from Nashville for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Far from beaches/mountains. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
- The housing market scene is average

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
