It's a a small town city with about 5,184 people. Household incomes average around $45,274 in Madisonville. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Anyone in a similar situation? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 14 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Italian places. I love the pace of life here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.
