Commute times in Magna metro township -how bad?

Hey, Just moved here 12 months ago and The median home value here is around $341,400, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Any advice would be great. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Minneapolis it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 31, moved here 15 years ago from New York. I've lived in North and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The healthcare situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 5 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
