Came here for cost of living and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The dating scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in healthcare here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is underrated. Definitely worth checking out..

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Cedar Grove. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Miami about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
