Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Asian places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Miami about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Austin it's average.

I've lived in The Heights for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The job market scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
