Relocating to Maitland, FL -pros and cons?

Alright, I'm single, late 30s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Maitland sits at 153.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $526,400, which is pretty steep. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Any advice would be great. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Highland for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- The job market scene is improving

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
