Worst things about Maitland nobody talks about

I'm originally from Raleigh and Crime rate is something to consider -Maitland sits at 153.7 per 100K. Rent is about $1,930/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Boston it's average.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
