Anyone regret moving to Makaha?

Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $416,100 on average. Rent is about $1,871/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Springfield area are average. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
