Moving from Atlanta to Makakilo next month

Random thought, Median household income is $120,489, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $2,202 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much competitive but now it's better than expected.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 8 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
