Hey, I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $607,500 on average. Median household income is $95,298, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $607,500, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is tough in most areas.

I've lived in Highland for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is average
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
