Is Malibu a good place to live?

Hello, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $2,000,001, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $192,159, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Malibu sits at 343.9 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (East) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Seattle about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
