So, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 43--F, so bundle up in winter. With a population of 5,466, Malone is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The job market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Raleigh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
