Job hunting in Malverne -tips?

Random thought, I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,861 for rent here. Median household income is $146,585, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 8,496, Malverne is a small town. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 30, moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in North and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..
