Unpopular opinion about Manassas

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,835 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Manassas sits at 246.1 per 100K. With a population of 42,674, Manassas is a smaller city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

Moved here from Miami about 10 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to cultural scene but No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Raleigh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in West area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.
