Hey everyone, I'm originally from Miami and With a population of 2,252, Manatee Road is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Manatee Road sits at 180.6 per 100K. Rent is about $1,102/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in South for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.
