Best neighborhoods to rent in Manchester?

Hey everyone, Median household income is $76,780, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,357/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Manchester sits at 173.5 per 100K. With a population of 36,561, Manchester is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Close to nature
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Worth the trade-offs? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I work in engineering here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 57, moved here 5 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Downtown and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The community vibe situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
