Manchester quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey folks, Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 4.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,329/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low taxes
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Cold winters
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thoughts? Thanks for reading. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is better than expected in most areas.
