Anyone regret moving to Manchester?

I'm a 43-year-old data analyst and Crime rate is something to consider -Manchester sits at 600.6 per 100K. With a population of 115K, Manchester is a mid-size city. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any help is appreciated. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 10 years. Moved from Tampa for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

it depends on the neighborhood

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
