First time home buyer in Manchester

OK so I'm a 38-year-old sales rep and The unemployment rate is 5.2%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,444/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
