Hey folks, I relocated for work and Homes are going for about $343,900 on average. Poverty rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a software engineer and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for family and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (The Heights) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
