Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 1.0%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,044/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 24,293 people. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from New York about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

I work in consulting here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is tough. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 25, moved here 1 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Eastside and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The dating scene situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
