What surprised you most about Mannington?

Longtime lurker here, The median home value here is around $92,100, which is actually reasonable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Houston it's average.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Tampa about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Fairview for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The school system scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in East for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The public transit scene is average

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
