Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

I work in hospitality here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is tough. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for family and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The housing market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The food scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
