Housing in Manor compared to Tampa

Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $333,800, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,446 for rent here. It's a a small town city with about 16,917 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Strong sense of community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Lack of diversity
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely decent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Sunset) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
