Cost of living reality check -Manorhaven

Hey folks, I work in engineering and You can expect to pay around $2,651 for rent here. Homes are going for about $669,700 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 11 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Downtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The public transit scene is average

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2017 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much stable but now it's decent.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is tough in most areas.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to New York it's surprisingly good.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The outdoor recreation scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..
