Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 21.1%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I've lived in North for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- The weather scene is solid
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
