Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $1,798 for rent here. Is this normal for Mansfield? Thanks in advance!

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much pricey but now it's average.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Midtown area are decent. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is challenging in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 33, moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Uptown and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Thai places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 15 years. Moved from Raleigh for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Far from beaches/mountains. And dating scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.

- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 5 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
