I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,798/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 4.7%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Highland area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Westside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The community vibe scene is solid
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
