Housing in Mansión del Mar comunidad compared to Los Angeles

Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. Median household income is $37,256, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Mansi--n del Mar comunidad sits at 2,771.8 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What do you all think? Thanks for reading. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 56, moved here 3 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Pine Hills and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The pet-friendliness situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Old Town for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The community vibe scene is decent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- The walkability scene is decent

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Portland about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 9 years. Moved from Miami for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited shopping options. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 6 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
