I'm single, late 20s, and With a population of 86,521, Manteca is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,934 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 2 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
